The Sir Shirley Jeffries Memorial Chapel stands at the geographical heart of Westminster School, symbolising the central importance of our faith.

The Chapel was opened in 1967 named after the former South Australian Minister of Education who was one of the early benefactors and supporters of the school, and who suggested the motto Deo Duce – God being our leader.  Rev, Dr A.H. Wood laid the foundation stone at Westminster with the words “this will be a place where the depths and lengths of the Christian faith is both taught and caught”. The first Headmaster, Mr Douglas Forder, declared that education set in a Christian context is not only desirable, but necessary.

The School Chaplains address the spiritual needs of the School community, formally in the Chapel and classrooms as well as informally around the School grounds and throughout the year.

Memories are made for sharing. Bring together your family and friends in our very quaint, naturally lit Chapel, seating up to 250 people. Refreshment packages are available and can be served in the adjacent Rose Gardens or Foyer.

The Chapel is readily available for Old Scholars and the School Community for weddings, baptisms, and funerals. Ceremonies outside the community are subject to the Principal's approval.
