Frequently Asked Questions
When can my child start boarding at Westminster?
Westminster is one of South Australia's largest Boarding schools. We welcome Boarders from Years 7 to 12 from a diverse range of backgrounds, country areas and regions of Australia and overseas.
How do you attend to safety and security?
The safety of our Boarders is paramount. No matter what time of the day or night, there will be a staff member available to assist in case of an emergency. Each night, external gates are closed, and windows and doors secured and alarmed. No student is allowed to leave the Boarding community without permission being granted from the Head of Boarding.
Am I able to visit the School at any time?
Boarding always begins as a new experience for families, so we keep visiting arrangements as flexible as possible. While our Director of Boarding asks that Boarding House visits are advised in advance, you are welcome to enjoy sporting matches, concerts and performing arts at any time.
Can the Boarders use the School facilities?
Yes, Boarders have full use of our on-campus facilities including: the Sports and Swimming Centre, performing arts and music rehearsal facilities, fully supported Wi-Fi network and the extensive landscaped grounds.
Who do I contact for support?
Our aim is to provide flexible and open communication between the School, parents and Boarding student, and our Head of Boarding is always available for parents to contact, as are our Housemothers.
Is there a Boarder Parents' group I can join?
The Boarder Parents' Association aims to foster friendship between families and enhance the Boarding experience for parents and students. All Westminster Boarding families automatically become members of the Boarder Parents' Association.
