"Learning to Learn: Tools to Enhance Your Child’s Academic Journey" is an engaging and informative 3-part workshop series designed for parents and carers hosted by Westminster's Director of Learning, Andrea Sherwood and Director of Teaching, Andrea Phillips.
This series aims to equip parents and carers with practical strategies and insights to support their children's educational development. Over the course of three sessions, parents will explore various techniques to foster effective learning habits, boost motivation, and create a conducive learning environment at home. Each session will provide hands-on activities, research-based expert advice, and valuable resources to empower parents and carers in their vital role in their children's academic success. Wellbeing @ West Smoking and Vaping Information Sessions

As part of the Wellbeing @ West Parenting Workshops, we are pleased to be hosting a webinar with Life Education about Vaping. This coincides with our Life Education student sessions including a visit from the Life Ed Van and Healthy Harold for ELC to Year 6 in Weeks 4 and 5 this term and Year 7s and 8s learning about the risks of vaping and other drugs in Weeks 2 and 3.
Topics covered in the Parenting Vaping Webinar include:
- What's in a vape?
- What do vapes look like and where are you people getting them from?
- How vaping is marketed to young people
- The most up-to-date legislation/laws
- The impact vaping has on the body
- How to recognise the signs of addiction and where to get help

This special panel session will focus on Adventurous Learning, a cornerstone of Westminster's new Strategic Plan. As we embark on this exciting journey, understand how adventurous learning experiences prepare our students for the challenges of a VUCAH world—volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous, and hyper-connected.
This session will feature expert discussions about the ways these experiences foster resilience, creativity, and adaptability in our children. Gain valuable insights and engage in discussions about how we can collectively shape a dynamic educational path for our students. Featuring an introductory provocation from Principal, Simon Shepherd.

As part of our Wellbeing@West Parenting Workshop series, Westminster School is pleased to be hosting one of South Australia’s Leading Voices in children’s resilience, positive parenting and wellbeing, Madhavi Nawana Parker. Madhavi is the Director of Positive Minds Australia, a Published Author, Speaker and Counsellor, who has developed resilience, wellbeing, confidence and social emotional intelligence strategies for children, teenagers, families and schools for over twenty years. Madhavi completed University studies in Psychology and Counselling, followed by her contribution to many families across South Australia and Nationally where she delivers practical parenting advice for raising our children in a complex world. Madhavi is known for her compassionate, strengths based approach to improve mental health, confidence, resilience and wellbeing.

This shared activity for students, parents and carers promotes physical fitness, healthy habits, and family bonding by allowing children and teens to develop endurance, strength, and coordination while parents serve as positive role models encouraging a lifelong commitment to an active lifestyle.
