Westminster Life - Term 1 2025
Welcome to Edition 1 of Westminster Life, formerly known as Community News.
This year’s School theme is to be adventurous, and at Westminster in 2025, this spirit of adventure is woven into everything we do. From standout successes in the classroom to courageous contributions on stage, in sport and beyond, our students have embraced the theme wholeheartedly.
Thank you to our entire community for your ongoing support this term. It’s been a dynamic start to the year, filled with extraordinary achievements.
There’s no better way to reflect on our adventurous beginning than by hearing directly from our students about their Term 1 highlights, which you can view below. I hope that you all have a fantastic Easter together and look forward to seeing you next term.

Staff News
Congratulations Pauline Bartlett, who has achieved 40 Years of Service at Westminster School. In 1985, a very young Pauline stepped into the School’s Business Office to learn the many intertwined ropes of the School’s admin and finance arms, and support the various titles of Bursars, Directors of Business, Corporate Services and Business Operations, as well as address School Council requirements. Firmly in the School’s corporate world, Pauline has successfully navigated 40 years of change, having mastered new skills with a depth and breadth of School knowledge few can claim. Pauline is the fifth staff member to achieve this milestone and the first female to reach 40 years.
Vale
Vale Ian Young, who sadly passed away on the 1 January 2025, aged 85. Ian was a long-serving staff member at Westminster from 1972 to 2000. Ian took up the challenge to establish Westminster’s Sturt Grove Farm as a viable learning centre that tapped into industry and community to help students build knowledge and practical skills. The main roadway crossing Sturt Grove Farm from the School to the Boarding precinct is dedicated as Ian Young’s Way, reflecting Ian’s belief that students could be encouraged to offer more than just mainstream thinking to our world. When not at the farm, Ian used his considerable sailing experience to help build the School’s sailing program. We are grateful for Ian’s exceptional commitment and the wonderful support of our community for laying the foundation for Westminster’s renowned Agriculture and Show Team programs that proudly continue today.
