Health Update: Measles
Many of you may be aware that there are concerns across Australia over an outbreak of measles. Westminster, like many schools, are following the news and spread of measles.
SA Health has advised that Westminster was recently visited by a person who has since been diagnosed with measles.
The visitor was on the School oval, Wednesday 26 March, between 10.00 - 11.15 am and again between 2.00 - 3.15 pm.
Measles is a highly contagious viral illness. Early signs can include fever, cough, runny nose and sore eyes, followed by a blotchy rash that usually starts on the face and spreads down the body.
If you, your child or any family members were on the School oval during the specified time, please monitor for symptoms. If symptoms appear, seek medical advice immediately.
The wellbeing of our community is always our highest priority. Westminster is working closely with SA Health and will continue to share relevant information when required.
Please refer to the measles factsheet on the SA Health website here.
Weekly Sports Wrap
Year 5/6 Knockout Cricket – Round 1
On Friday 21 March, a squad of 12 Year 5/6 students headed to Park 16 (Victoria Park) to take on Coromandel Valley Primary School. The opposition had some talented cricketers, but the depth of our team - built through the dedication of families supporting their child’s cricket journey - proved the difference. Westminster posted a strong total of 3/119 at a run per ball, with Will Stratford and Oliver Swalling leading the scoring, well supported by Omika Amarasinghe and Oli Roberts. Our bowling attack made early breakthroughs, maintained excellent discipline, and took key catches to dismiss Coromandel Valley for 77. The team now looks ahead to the next round, where they will face the winner of Stirling East Primary School and St Francis de Sales.
Week 10 Co-Curricular Update
In Week 10, the Year 1 Co-Curricular program concludes on Tuesday after eight weeks of activity.
