Preparatory School
Years 5/6 White Volleyball
Our Volleyballers played their first game of the season last week at Brighton High School. After a determined search for a win in the final weeks of 2024, this team returned with great energy and a commitment to improving their game. With some extra practice in the School yard and valuable coaching from Year 12 student Eva, they started the season with a well-earned victory. The team was thrilled with their performance and is eager to back it up this week. Well done to Charlotte H, Edith, Kayla, Lexi, Jessica, Lindsay, Sophie and Shivaa.
Co-curricular Sport
With fine weather forecast for Week 4, all Years 2–6 Basketball, Cricket, Tennis and Volleyball matches are set to go ahead. A reminder for those playing Volleyball and Basketball at external venues to ensure their registrations are complete. For assistance, please contact Preparatory School Head of PE and Co-curricular, Nick Warren, at E: nwarren@westminster.sa.edu.au. Thank you for a fantastic start to the season.
Senior School
Highlight of the Week
It was a strong start to the season for our Senior School Volleyball teams, with a record 17 teams competing and 14 securing wins. A special mention to our Head of Sport, Mike Martens, for coordinating such a large program in a short timeframe, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Our new Coordinator of Volleyball, Andrew Schacht, has plenty of promising talent to work with, and we look forward to seeing the teams develop throughout the season.
Looking Ahead
Our First XI Cricket team will be looking to bounce back against Rostrevor this week after a challenging start to the season. The team has been building strong foundations with consistent bowling and fielding but is aiming to post more competitive batting scores. With many experienced players, including those who toured the UK last year, we are confident they will find their form. Meanwhile, our Second XI started their season in style with a convincing win over Sacred Heart last week.
Sport Training in Extreme Weather
With the recent extreme heat, it is a good time to revisit the School’s policy on afternoon sport training. Training will always proceed as scheduled, with outdoor sessions modified into shaded areas or moved indoors where possible. Indoor sports may also be adjusted as needed. If a session cannot be modified appropriately, we will notify families as soon as possible.
