Extreme Weather Guidelines
With the hot weather predicted for this weekend it is timely to provide an update on the Westminster’s Extreme Weather Policy.
For weekend sport we play matches under the auspices of SAAS for boys sport and IGSSA for girls sport. They both have very similar policies for weekend sport.
Matches (weekend): schools will assess the local conditions at specific venues in real time to action any necessary cancellations. Fixtures in the Senior School will be cancelled or cease when the local temperature reaches 38°C at the location of the sporting fixture and 35°C in the Preparatory School.
For training and practice we have greater flexibility given we have the ability to go inside or modify the session.
In Senior School afternoon sport practice will always go ahead as scheduled - outdoor practices will be modified to indoors or shaded areas and indoor sports will be modified, as necessary. If there is an exception where we cannot modify the session adequately, we will notify families as soon as possible via School social media and email to students and families
Decisions on Preparatory School afternoon sport practice be made at 8.00 am on the day of practice. Sports practices will be modified when the local temperature is predicted to reach 35°C.
