Our approach to early learning
Our ELC has access to our School’s extensive resources, technology, grounds and facilities, which means children develop inquisitive minds in a stimulating and secure environment, supported by specialist staff. Taking our youngest students through key learning areas such as Physical Education, Music and the Library, we provide a brilliant start to their education. Westminster families will not be surprised to learn that according to independent assessors, our ELC well-surpasses the expectations placed on it by the National Quality Standard Assessment and Rating with a grade of ‘Exceeding National Standards’.
In line with our School’s excellent staff-to-student ratio, and appreciating individual progress, the program caters for grouping students who share a similar level of maturity and readiness for a particular task, each with their own qualified teacher and support staff. Food is provided during the day, including morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snack. The ELC day runs from 09:00 to 15:30 and options are available for before school care from 07:30 and after school care until 18:00.
When our ELC students are ready to move on to Preparatory School, our comprehensive orientation ensures a smooth process with either mid-year intake into the Transition class or start of year intake into Reception. This allows students to become familiar with both the classroom environment and the many staff members who will be expertly guiding them through the next stage of their journey.
The Westminster ELC is accredited as an approved childcare provider, which allows eligible families to access the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).
