“A change in leadership does not change who we are as a School. Our values, culture and clear direction continue to shape every aspect of School life, with a focus on building young people of character, emotional intelligence and a strong sense of purpose, brought to life through an Adventurous Education.”

Craig Need ’86 Chair of Council

A welcome from Acting Principal, Andrew Whiteman

The strength of Westminster has always come from its people. Every student who discovers their passions here, every staff member who gives so generously of themselves and every family who places their trust in our community contributes to a story far greater than any one individual.

As Acting Principal, I am privileged to lead a School with a rich history, a strong sense of purpose and an unwavering commitment to helping young people flourish.

Since 1961, Westminster has provided an education that extends beyond academic achievement, nurturing character, wellbeing and a lifelong love of learning.

At Westminster, success is never one-dimensional. It is not defined by an ATAR, a university offer or any other single ambition. Rather, it is measured in courage, growth and the confidence that comes from knowing who you are and where your strengths lie.

We believe every child deserves to feel known, valued and supported to pursue a future that is authentically their own.

This belief is reflected in our philosophy of Adventurous Education, which sits at the heart of the Westminster experience.

We know that meaningful learning often happens when students step beyond their comfort zones, embrace challenge and engage with the world around them.

Whether through academic inquiry, outdoor education, service, the arts, sport or leadership opportunities, students are encouraged to explore new possibilities, develop resilience and discover their strengths. Along the way, they gain the confidence, character and skills to achieve more than they thought possible and embrace the opportunities and challenges the future holds.

One of Westminster's greatest strengths is the opportunity for students to undertake their entire educational journey on a single campus, from Early Learning to Year 12.

Across our 23-hectare campus, students benefit from exceptional learning environments, expansive open spaces and a connected community where meaningful relationships are formed and nurtured over time. It is a place where children are known, where a genuine sense of belonging is fostered and where lifelong connections begin.

Grounded in the values of the Uniting Church and enriched by our connection to the international Round Square network, we seek to develop young people who are compassionate, adaptable and prepared to contribute positively to an increasingly complex world.

As we look to the future, Westminster stands poised for an exciting new chapter. The foundations laid across generations remain strong and the opportunities before us are filled with possibility.

While education continues to evolve, our purpose remains constant: to provide an environment where every student can grow in confidence, discover their passions and develop the skills and character needed to thrive.

Every day, I see students embracing opportunities, supporting one another and developing into thoughtful, capable young people who are ready to make a meaningful contribution to their world.

I invite you to visit Westminster and experience our vibrant School community for yourself.

I look forward to welcoming you to our campus and sharing how a Westminster education empowers students to embrace opportunity, challenge themselves and flourish throughout their educational journey and beyond.
