The WestSwim development squad is for students who would like to pursue their love of swimming, whether that be for competition or fitness. Whilst continuing to receive stroke development feedback, swimmers also learn lane etiquette and training ethics, building independence in each student’s ability to self-motivate and show initiative in their individual progression, and to ready students for a club or team environment. Those students who have no interest in competition swimming still gain essential skills, such as starts and turns, that will greatly benefit their stroke efficiency for the purpose of fitness swimming, as well as learning proper use of equipment such as hand paddles, snorkels, pull buoys and pace clocks.
Coaches utilise a 5 weekly rotational training program, each week focusing on a different core stroke. Swimmers will perform timed swims throughout the year to monitor their development and provide an opportunity to apply their learning and gain experience in the competitive side of swimming in a supported environment.
Max 10 swimmers per session.
Swimmers arrive 15 minutes prior to session for dry-land group stretch/warm-up.
